Find answers to common questions about checking your SecureSpend gift card balance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find my SecureSpend card number?
Your 16-digit card number is printed on the front of your SecureSpend Visa or Mastercard gift card. The expiration date (MM/YY) and CVV (3 digits) are on the back of the card.
My balance check isn't working — what should I do?
First, double-check that you've entered the card number, expiration date, and CVV exactly as they appear on your card — with no spaces or extra characters. If the issue continues, try a different browser or device, or clear your browser cache and try again.
Why does my balance show $0 when I know there should be funds?
A zero balance can result from a declined transaction that still placed a temporary hold, a card that hasn't been properly activated, or expiration of unused funds. Check that your card has been activated according to the instructions on the packaging, and allow 24–48 hours for any pending holds to clear.
How do I activate a new SecureSpend gift card?
Activation instructions are printed on the card carrier (the paper holder the card comes in) or on a sticker on the card itself. Most SecureSpend cards are activated at the point of purchase, but some require you to call a phone number or visit a URL listed on the card to complete activation.
Can I reload my SecureSpend gift card?
Whether a SecureSpend card can be reloaded depends on the specific card product you purchased. Standard gift cards are typically not reloadable. Check your cardholder agreement or the card packaging for information about your specific card's reload options.
My card was declined even though I have a balance — why?
This can happen if the transaction amount exceeds your available balance (some merchants add a tip or pre-authorization hold), if the merchant requires a PIN that hasn't been set, if the card is being used internationally and international transactions are restricted, or if the card has expired. Verify your balance first, then check those conditions.
Does my SecureSpend card expire?
Yes. SecureSpend gift cards have an expiration date printed on the front of the card. The card cannot be used after that date. However, in most states, the funds do not expire even if the card does — contact the card issuer to request a replacement card if your card has expired but you still have remaining funds.
Tip: For issues that go beyond a balance check — such as disputing a transaction, reporting a lost or stolen card, or requesting a refund — you will need to contact the card issuer directly. The customer service number is printed on the back of your SecureSpend card.
